Phenomenal jazz-soul singer and one of the best voices of our generation,Gregory Porter releases his new gospel-infused anthem called “Revival”.
He has also announces that his sixth album “All Rise”, is due out on 17 April on Decca Records/Blue Note.
“All Rise” is produced by Troy Miller, whose credits include Laura Mvula, Jamie Cullum and Emeli Sandé.
Porter after singing Nat King Cole’s standards on his last album, is returning to his own songwriting, mixing jazz, soul, blues, and gospel.
Porter has also unveiled a beautiful new music video for ‘Revival,’ which you can see below.
The powerful video was directed by Douglas Bernardt and stars dancer Jemoni Powe. Gregory says: “I wanted the video to have an important political message too, which is why we chose to honor the young man from Baltimore, Freddie Gray, at the beginning.
There are so many things in life that can get you down and make you feel small, whether it be racism, self-doubt, insecurity, or financial situations. It’s about finding your source of strength to bring you back to seeing who you truly are so that you can be restored to the giant that you are.”
“All Rise” continues a story of unbroken success that began with Porter’s “Liquid Spirit” debut of 2013, which won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
In 2019, the singer also launched and hosted his own podcast series, “The Hang”, which featured such guests as Annie Lennox, Jeff Goldblum, Don Was and British-Jamaican soul singer Celeste, subsequently named as the BBC’s Sound Of 2020.
All Rise is released on 17 April. Pre-order it here.
