Mark de Clive-Lowe, Andrea Lombardini and Tommaso Cappellato are the Dreamweavers and they shared their first single “Birds Of Prey”

Mark de Clive-Lowe, Andrea Lombardini and Tommaso Cappellato are the Dreamweavers and they shared their first single “Birds Of Prey”. Mark de Clive-Lowe returns to his roots with a new electro-acoustic record “Dreamweavers”, displaying his talent as a pianist and composer in partnership with creative collaborators bass player Andrea Lombardini and drummer Tommaso Cappellato. The two Italians have been a consistent presence on Mark de Clive-Lowe’s European tours for several years now, and it was during a road trip from Italy to Switzerland that Lombardini and Cappellato envisioned producing an MdCL album themselves.

“Dreamweavers” reflects on and celebrates the sounds that de Clive-Lowe grew up loving and finding inspiration in – from Sakamoto’s meditative melancholy and Ahmad Jamal’s soulful playfulness to the rhythms of broken beat, boom bap and global rhythms. With the Italian rhythm section in empathetic support from start to finish both in their playing and producing, de Clive-Lowe embraces new found freedoms on “Dreamweavers”. With all but a grand piano and a few keyboards stripped away from him, and the production in Lombardini and Cappellato’s hands, ‘Dreamweavers’ is the first non-self-produced MdCL album in 25 years.

All tracks composed by Mark de Clive-Lowe except “Strolling Down Degnan” composed by Ras G. The trio released already teaser to the album, the two extra bonus tracks “Masina’s World” and “Mizugaki” on a limited “Aqua-marine” coloured 7inch vinyl.

Listen below to Mark de Clive-Lowe, Andrea Lombardini and Tommaso Cappellato as a Dreamweavers “Birds Of Prey”, the first single from their forthcoming self-titled album:

Mark de Clive-Lowe is an American-based Japanese—New Zealand DJ, musician, composer and producer raised in Auckland and now based in Los Angeles, California. He came to international prominence during his decade living in London, UK. From 1998-2008 de Clive-Lowe was a regular collaborator with a community of producers including Bugz in the Attic, 4Hero and Restless Soul. He is a veteran of the UK's broken beat movement, blending jazz, electronics, funk and percussion-heavy world music. He has been involved with over 200 releases, collaborating artists including Lauryn Hill, Jody Watley, Shirley Horn, UK soul singer Omar, percussionist Sammy Figueroa, bass player Pino Palladino.

Tommaso Cappellato is an eclectic italian drummer, band leader, dj and composer whose work runs the gamut from freeform techno to hip-hop production and jazz improvisation. Mentored by jazz visionaries Harry Whitaker (Black Renaissance), Michael Carvin (Pharoah Sanders) and collaborator with techno master Donato Dozzy, Tommaso’s seemingly unorthodox breadth of style and vision gives us a truly unique new school artist. From building his jazz chops as a resident drummer in NYC, to hip hop excursions alongside Brooklyn MC Yah Supreme; traveling to Senegal to meld with local world music masters, to leading his own award‐ winning spiritual jazz project Astral Travels.

Andrea Lombardini is one of the most original European bass players. He made his debut in his early twenties with Randomania, together with Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Cecchetto and UTGandhi; the band received excellent acclaim and recorded two discs. His project as leader, ALT (Andrea Lombardini Trio), with which he won the Baronissi competition in 2002 and recorded a record the following year, is a band with a variable line-up focused on their own angular compositions. In 2004 he won the international competition for bass players Euro Bass Day. His latest project, Andrea Lombardini Broken Band, is a quintet made up of some of the best young Italian musicians and presents original compositions by the leader.
