Pyjaen will present their debut album live tonight in Brighton

Headed up by Dylan Jones (of EZRA Collective), Ben Vize, Daniele Diodato, Benjamin Crane and Charlie Hutchinson, PYJÆN is a band with its common link in improvised music and the jazz tradition, but with vision of pushing music forward in new directions. Having all met at Trinity Laban College of music, the collective has the shared goal of exploring life through musical expression and perfecting their art. With their debut album dropping this September we can’t wait to hear the tracks live in the intimate and scantly clad setting of Patterns’ upstairs room.

Dance can be triggered by improvised Jazz, classic four to the floor or whatever it is that moves our souls; Universal Sanctuary is the junction between live Jazz, electronic music and DJ culture; a place that warmly invites you to lose your inhibitions and open your ears even wider. With a new live Worldwide FM show from November, we look forward to having Tina Edwards bringing the vibe from the radio show to upstairs setting of Patterns.

PYJÆN is the reflection of 5 souls. Their joy, their happiness, their worries and experiences come together in one unified higher identity.

PYJÆN have been described by Jazz Wise Review as having “a groove propelled with dynamism and formidable technique”, PYJÆN seamlessly melds funk, afro-beat and contemporary sounds with nods to hip-hop and disco, whilst acknowledging the traditional era of 1920s jazz and dance music.
