Swedish singer-songwriter Matilda Bond shares her new soulful single “To Time From Time”
Swedish singer-songwriter Matilda Bond shares her new soulful single “To Time From Time”. The song is based on “Painted Poem” by Aldo Tambellini, a pioneering experimental artist and film-maker. “To Time From Time” takes shape as a musical exploration of the philosophical ponderings of the artist himself. The song is laced with neo-soul grooves, jazz style chords, smooth vocal melodies and atmospheric harmonies to create a soulful soundscape.
"To Time From Time" sees Matilda taking a lyrical dive into the tangibility of emotions, personification of light, time, love, lies and darkness and the movement of energy within people throughout the verse and pre-chorus; “time doesn’t breathe when it’s free”. Amongst all of the meanings that Matilda finds within ‘To Time From Time’ personally, the metaphorical lyrics are intended to create an opportunity for the listener to infer their own meaning based on their actuality.

From her birthplace in Stockholm to a newfound home in Brighton, Swedish singer-songwriter Matilda Bond presents a soulful soundscape shaped by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Jordan Rakei, Lianne LaHavas, Billie Holiday, Ezra Collective, Alfa Mist, Elli Ingram and Hamzaa.
Developing from the solace found between the notes on her piano, Matilda depicts a translation of herself into sound accompanied by her alluring voice and abstract lyricism. The closely connected band behind her portrays influences from the London jazz scene, early 2000’s neo-soul and contemporary R&B and Hip-Hop movements, working together to create the sonic landscape.
Definitely check Matilda’s debut single "Midnight", released 17 April 2020, it's a serious killer.
