Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley Performs NPR ‘Tiny Desk Concert’
Bob Marley's youngest son Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley performed three songs from his last album, 2017's Stony Hill. He performed mellowed renditions of Slave Mill, the Slick Rick-inspired So a Child May Follow, and Speak Life, all in new acoustic versions.
Damian was backed during the session by keyboardist Sean “Pow” Diedrick, drummer Courtney “Bam” Diedrick, bassist Shiah Coore, guitarist Elton “Elly B” Brown and vocalists Roselyn Williams and Sherieta Lewis.
Damian Robert Nesta "Jr. Gong" Marley, born July 21, 1978, is a Jamaican Reggae recording artist. Damian is the youngest son of Bob Marley. Damian's nickname Junior Gong is derived from his father's nickname of Tuff Gong. Damian has been performing since the age of 13.
His collaborations with other artists are on the other hand countless. Just to name a few: Alicia Keys, Nas, Cypress Hill, Buju Banton, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, and Mick Jagger.
