Ms Lauren Hill release her new single “Guarding the Gates,” from the forthcoming film “Queen & Slim.”
We haven’t heard from Ms. Lauren Hill much in a long 5 years. She becomes more active last year touring extensively around the world, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”
Lauren releases her new single “Guarding the Gates,” from the forthcoming film “Queen & Slim.” She has been performing “Guarding the Gates” live for several years but she has never recorded it before.
Ms. Lauren Hill last song was a guest appearance on Pusha-T new single “Coming Home,” which will appear on his upcoming album. But her last proper solo song was the 2014’s “Black Rage,” which she dedicated to the citizens of Ferguson, Missouri after Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer.
“Queen & Slim” is Black Panther-inspired Bonnie and Clyde kind of movie. The soundtrack is released by Motown Records and features contributions from Roy Ayers, Syd, Burna Boy, Blood Orange, Moses Sumney, Vince Staples, Megan Thee Stallion and many more. Soundtrack aims to present the history of black music “from its roots in blues and soul to modern bounce, hip hop, and R&B – much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the ’90s.”
