Fresh Sounds: Céline & The Blue – Crave Love

Crave Love is the latest offering from Céline and the Blue, the young, female-fronted five-piece band from London. Their music is a mixture of soul, jazz and funk, inspired by the likes of Tom Misch, Lianne La Havas and FKJ.

They all met at university in Guildford in 2017 and played together since the summer of 2018. They've been working on a variety of projects together, such as their podcast Out of The Blue and YouTube channel, but most important released a bunch of soulful songs last year. This year shouldn't be different, they kicked it off already with the new song, exploring new musical and emotional territories.

With the splashes of soul, trickles of rock elements, and jazzy cadences, Crave Love range over helplessness, vulnerability, and grief. Written initially as a heartbreak song, it praises craving love as the ultimate fulfillment. It's the joyful and sweet appetizer before their first EP, which is due to drop in the middle of the year. 

Céline and the Blue is a truly an international band featuring talented young musicians from Italy, Albania, Netherlands, and England, with Céline Xueref on vocals, Jay Wetzels on guitar, Enea Lleshi on keys, Myles Malyon on bass, and Elliot Yarnall on drums. All of their songs are written by duo Céline and Enea. The band already has made its live London debut at Ronnie Scott’s and has garnered praise from BBC Introducing.
