Song of the Day: The Lahaar - Doin’ It

A new jazz-funk supergroup out of Melbourne The Lahaar released its first single Doin' It, a kicking trans-boogie scorcher from the band's forthcoming debut EP via Soundway Records The Lahaar.

Drawing inspiration from the depths of late 70's NYC proto-rap disco instrumentals, Nigerian boogie, Jamaican dub and modern jazzy house - The Lahaar is a Trans-Tasman collaboration between Julien Dyne, Horatio Luna and Surprise Chef's Lachlan Stuckey, featuring Mara TK and Toby Laing on vocals

The EP embarks on a 5-track rollercoaster - kicking off with Doin’ It, fast-paced jazz-funk peppered with marimba and organ riffs, balanced out by the siren vocals of Mara TK

Lachlan Stuckey said about the track: A few years back, my wonderful mate Julien Dyne was in Melbourne for some gigs that Henry Hicks and I played on. Whilst he was here, the three of us recorded some jams in the name of good old-fashioned enjoyment. Julien applied his trademark demonizm to the tracks, adding contributions from Aotearoa’s best and bumpinest - heavy heads like Mara TK, Scott Towers, Cory Champion and Toby Laing. The result is a 5-track 12” of trans-tasman pressure, out soon on Soundway Records. The first cut is out to listen to now. Much respect to everyone involved, most of all the indefatigable creative demon that is Julien Dyne.
