Fresh Sounds: Marcus Joseph – Arrival of the Giants

Marcus Joseph released his new song Arrival of the Giants from the forthcoming sophomore album Beyond The Dome. The new album explores themes of personal and external limitations, the idea of what binds us to who and where we are and the transcendence of perceived obstacles to become our authentic selves. His music is a warm Fusion of Jazz, Reggae, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Music. Beyond The Dome is produced by Edward Wakili-Hick and features leader Marcus Joseph on alto saxophone and vocals, trumpeters Sheila Maurice-Grey (Kokoroko) andIfe Ogunjobi (Ezra Collective), brothers Nathaniel Cross (Moses Boyd, Zara McFarlane) on trombone and Theon Cross (Sons Of Kemet, Moses Boyd) on tuba, keyboardist Lorenz Okello-Osengor (Steam Down), drummer Eddie Wakili-Hick (Son Of Kemet), Wayne Matthews on bass and Tony Kofi on baritone saxophone.

Since the release of his debut EP Real Talk his career as a full-time musician and a spoken word artist has surged, leading to many achievements both personally and professionally. Marcus performed alongside internationally renowned vocalist Emily Saunders and award-winning singer/ songwriter Angie Brown at the London Jazz Festival 2018. Marcus became a finalist at Yamaha Music London’s ‘Funk It Up Thursdays’ with his band, Major Ruse, competing for a gig on stage at Love Supreme Jazz Festival 2018.
