Fresh sounds: MckNasty, Kojey Radical and Laudable - Not Nice

Jazz drummer and musical director MckNasty shares a new track Not Nice, featuring Kojey Radical and South African rapper Laudable, from his biographical LP As Things Grow.

The single was born out of the collective experiences of three black men. Sonically submerging the listener into their story, providing an anthemic and defiant response to the oppression and marginalization they face.

Discussing the project, MckNasty says As things grow is a small insight on what’s happening in my head and my heart I’m a family man and a musician, always pushing myself to be better than I was the day before.

The 10 track project is about his journey to becoming an artist in his own right. The interlude Frustrations acts as a narrator, weaving the album’s songs together to chronicle his musical story. Expect a dynamic, drum-led fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Gospel and his love of cinematic string arrangements.

After landing his first professional drumming gig at 16 years old with Daniel Bedingfield, MckNasty went on to play drums with some of pop’s biggest stars Natasha Bedingfield, Lilly Allen, Jamelia, Tinie Tempah, the list goes on. From Glastonbury Pyramid stage to Jools Holland, the Jay Leno Show and Coachella, MckNasty has drummed with, among many others, Emeli Sande, Katy B, Wretch 32, Devlin, and his younger brother Labrinth.
