Fresh Sounds: Venna - Sicily' Box

South London's Grammy Award-winning, saxophonist Venna released his new single Sicily' Box, featuring Yussef Dayes, Marco Bernadis and Rocco Palladino.

Sicily’ Box is a special record that I created with my brothers. We started it in Deptford and I finished it around the world. It’s a record that perfectly captures the essence of my thoughts musically & also a soundtrack to my travels over the past year.

Venna is a musician that allows himself to be a vessel through the music, permitting it to come out in various ways, and never has that been more apparent than on the ethereal and evocative “Standard” - a track that instantly grabs the listener’s attention and lingers long after listening. Having worked with the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, 6lack, Snoh Aalegra, J Hus, AJ Tracey and more, Venna is a well known presence behind the scenes in the UK music world. After learning piano from the tender age of six, a young Venna moved onto the Alto Sax at 12 years old, and the rest is history; attending performing arts school to hone his craft and even appearing in multiple bands with various acts.

In 2020, Venna was nominated for a prestigious Grammy Award for his work on Burna Boy’s African Giant album on which he worked on Andybody with P2J and winning a Grammy Award for his work on Alarm Clock with P2J & Diddy. Venna’s accolades don’t stop there, having also played saxophone for some of the biggest Afrobeat records, including Ja Ara E by Burna Boy on the Beyoncé Lion King album, and across Wizkid’s Made In Lagos album.
