The Free Nationals featuring Anderson Paak & Chronixx returned to NPR “Tiny Desk Concert”. They played at NPR Tiny Desk before in 2016 as an Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals. That video of that concert was the most popular in the history of the long-running series (since 2008!), with over 48 million views on YouTube.
Ron Avant, keyboardist of The Free Nationals, thanks to NPR for the invitation: "I'm grateful that the Tiny Desk has made my face recognizable around the globe".
Watch their first Tiny Desk performance below:
They started with Daniel Caesar's "Beauty & Essex" featuring India Shawn. She used to play and recording with the band as a background singer for Anderson and now she is starting her solo career. She also sang on the second song, "On Sight", originally recorded with Kadhja Bonet.
Listen to The Free Nationals debut album featuring India Shawn, Anderson Paak and Chronixx:
Anderson Paak surprised the Tiny Desk audience as a "Cheeky Andy” the second guest that day. He took over the drum set and shared the vocal duties with India Shawn for the catchy song “Gidget”.
Jamaican roots reggae singer Chronixx returned to the Tiny Desk to perform laid back single "Eternal Light", which he recorded with The Free Nationals self-titled debut album. Chronixx finished the show with a beautiful uplifting message of love and positivity in "Eternal Light", one of The Wicked Sound’s favorites songs od 2019:
“Have you ever been in love
The bad vibes can’t stop this good vibration, yeah
Thats the positive vibes that we keep creating, yeah
The sounds that make you feel right.”
