Fresh Sounds: Nimbus Sextet – To The Light

Glaswegian jazz outfit Nimbus Sextet presents To The Light, the first single release from the band's forthcoming second LP on Acid Jazz Records

Bandleader and primary composer, Joe Nichols had this to say about the single: Given the mental health issues everyone has had to face as a result of the Covid era, I wanted to write something that evoked the feeling of self-confidence. As musicians, we've constantly had to deal with disappointment for the last two years. 'To The Light' is about those moments where you feel momentum coming back, relishing the opportunities that come your way, and choosing to celebrate your life, when the light begins to shine upon it again.

Listen to Nimbus Sextet new song To The Light, the first single release from the band's forthcoming second LP:

To The Light is a blistering funk fusion tune, complete with a heavy-hitting four-part horn section and driving clavinet marrying the classic fusion sound of Tower of Power with the progressive funk finesse of Ghost-Note. It was recorded at Dystopia Studios in Glasgow with production team Nuovi Fratelli.
