Song of the Day: The Ruffcats - On The Run (Slick Walk Rmx feat. Andy Cooper)

The Ruffcats song On The Run remixed by Slick Walk with Andy Cooper on the vocal is the latest offering from DJ Oonops, on his last Oonops Drops.

We gonna start with a funky rap-tune by The Ruffcats featuring Andy Cooper on the microphone. Slick Walk remixed »On The Run« and added hard-hitting drums and on-point-scratches to it and produced a sureshot party starter. On the flip you'll find two jazzy instrumental joints. First one is by japanese beatproducer 6th Generation and his instrumental 7"- edit of »Remember Us«. The last track is by German fingerdrumming master and beatgrinder xtraordinaire Clockwerk who works out a jazzy beats number together with Hannover based jazz combo Birdmoves on the instruments."

For many years they worked as a backing band for funk and soul artists, but in the same time creating their own sound and releasing instrumentals. DJ Robert Smith and Merse as a remixing duo Slick Walk took that track on the table with their trademark sick beats with wild cuts. Andy Cooper from hip-hop group Ugly Duckling joined them on vocal in his old school hip-hop style. We could hear him in recent months on the tremendous album Say The Word from The Allergies (one of the best funk records of 2020) and his own fabulous L.I.S.T.E.N.
