Watch below a video to Wojtek Mazolewski, Tamar Osborn and Edward Wakili-Hick concert in Klub Spatif in Warsaw:
“We need an opening. An eye to the world. A return to close relationships beyond real and mental boundaries and limitations. Even a signal that we can still build a better tomorrow together. We need new experiences and inspirations. The experiences of recent months force us to reflect and redefine the way we've been acting. Culture has a pioneering role to play – to tame fears and overcome fear, and above all, create a new energy to act. I hope that our intercultural connections, searching and cooperation will be a positive signal and inspiration to fight for a better world for everyone”, Wojtek Mazolewski said.
Listen below to Pete on The Corner on Worldwide FM featuring a recording of the Wojtek Mazolewski, Tamar Osborn, Edward Wakili-Hick concert:
Tamar Osborn is a saxophonist and multi-wind player. She runs her own creative project Collocutor, for which she is bandleader, composer and performer. Collocutor released their fantastic third album “Continuation” in 2020. She is a member of the Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra since 2009, but also she is involved in Sarathy Korwar band, The Fontanelles, Emanative and Jessica Lauren band among others. She performed and recorded with Van Morrison, tabla maestro Tanmoy Bose in India, the acclaimed production of Fela! at the National Theatre & Sadler’s Wells (London) and Africa Express (an on-going series of collaborative concerts between African and western musicians including artists such as Tony Allen, Baaba Maal, Rokia Traore, and Fatoumata Diawara).
Eddie Wakili Hicks is a London based drummer and producer, Sons Of Kemet member, who has worked across genres with various artists including Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, Angelique Kidjo, Roots Manuva, Congo Natty, Dele Sosimi, Anthony Joseph, Omar Lyefook, Robert Glasper, Dave Liebman, Bobby Watson, Nigel Kennedy, Beth Ditto, Tinie Tempah, Florence Welch(Florence and the Machine), Bill Laurence and Michael League (from Snarky Puppy). Inspired by the ‘multi-directional’ concept of John Coltrane, Nache is his multi-directional project encompassing both production and live band, a natural expression of his musical experiences so far.
Wojtek Mazolewski is a Polish bassist and composer, founder and leader of Pink Freud and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet. According to many critics, his musical activity brought the commercial boom of Polish jazz at the beginning of 21st century, and his unconventional manner influenced the new localization of the genre in the consciousness of the young listener. Mazolewski has acted as a musical partner to Pete Wareham, Dennis Gonzales, Tim Berne, Tomasz Stańko, John Zorn, Pete Kowald, Tymon Tymański, Jerzy Mazzoll, Olo Walicki, Andrzej Smolik, Mikołaj Trzaska, Marcin Masecki, Wojtek Waglewski, Lech Janerka, Fisz, Emade and many others.
