Fresh sounds: Raquel Martins – Show Me
London-based Portuguese singer/songwriter and guitarist, Raquel Martins released her debut EP The Way, including bossa nova infused single Show Me.
Raised under the sun in Portugal, she moved to London when she was only 17. Raquel grew up listening to the endless classics from the Brazilian and jazz repertoire. It was only when she discovered the world of contemporary hip-hop, soul, and jazz music that she realized she could create something new with all the sounds she had been absorbing over the years. Whilst accompanying many established London jazz artists as a guitarist, including upcoming talent Poppy Ajudha, Raquel has been establishing her unique sound with her self-produced debut EP The Way.

Following her previous single Freedom, which gained attention and support from London’s vibrant jazz scene such as Jamie Cullum, Jazz Fm, Worldwide FM, Raquel is back with Show Me, the third track of her debut EP. Self-produced, this track brings back the sounds of Brazilian music with a modern approach to the production, playing with the concept of tension and release. Wonderful EP was recorded by Raquel Martins on guitar, vocals, and synths, Jas Kayser on drums, Antonio Nacacche on keys, and Daisy George on bass.
