Brooklyn producer Joshua Kinney aka Jerk, releases his new single Bridge inspired by Williamsburg Bridge connecting the Lower East Side of Manhattan at Delancey Street with the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, the same one which Sonny Rollins used as his space to practice and an inspiration for 1962 album. The song comes from Jerk's forthcoming new album Circling on DeepMatter Records. The new project is a beat-tape, exploring the connections between jazz and hip-hop with compositions blurring the lines between hip hop beats and instrumental jazz compositions. The album was inspired by recent isolation at home and endless wandering and cycling around Brooklyn during the 2020 pandemic.
Joshua Kinney is a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. His discography includes a trio of EPs (Pink, Yellow, and Green), a full-length beat tape entitled Pressing On, and his latest live jazz album entitled Some Cosmic Shift, which came out in 2020. Jerk composes and produces all the material for the new album, with a help of Carey Ozmun (trumpet) and Martine Wade (drums) who have featured on previous Jerk records, along with vocal contributions from Taylor Burgess, Habit Blcx and Franco Colon.

The artist says about the album: "The past several years had been so goal-oriented and forward-moving that I didn’t take time to reflect, and those several months of lockdown were a chance to really think about where I’ve been and how I’ve gotten here. 'Circling' is a collection of songs directly inspired by the people, places and experiences in mine and my collaborators' lives."
