Polish jazz group Pink Freud released two new singles “Pink Sunrise” and “Radio Pink Freud”, from their forthcoming album “[piano forte brutto netto]” via Mystic Production. Pink Freud is a jazz band founded in Gdańsk in 1998 by Wojtek Mazolewski. The ensemble has since become a strong force in the Polish music market. It has built its own niche on the ground of new jazz with a punk twist, remaining stylistically soul-searching through the years. The band features Wojtek Mazolewski (bass), Adam Baron (trumpet), Arek Kopera (saxophone) Rafał Klimczuk (drums). Pink Freud, nicknamed “the export product of Polish culture” is a phenomenon in the Polish jazz scene, but also quite popular elsewhere. The group's repertoire is outgrowing the traditional definition of jazz music and it’s an eclectic mix of classical improvisation with more electronic sounds, drum'n'bass, and jungle, with punk energy.
Watch below a video to Pink Freud ‘s new songs “Pink Sunrise” and “Radio Pink Freud”, the new singles from their forthcoming album “[piano forte brutto netto]”:
“We prepared that album in a long time, and we spend a lot of time, to make sure it has all the aspects of our passion, adventures, and our journey, which we experienced together. We worked on those songs during our tours, and straight after them when we were still full of those emotions. We have finished the material on special sessions, in many places from Bieszczady mountains to the Casa De Musica in Porto, Portugal. During these times, separated from the outside world and everyday life, we dedicated 100% of our time to music. This time we took everything in our hands. We recorded the material and produced it ourselves, and for the first time, I have an impression that it sounds as it should and have the power needed. The beginnings of this process can be dated to 2016, and it’s a complete, up-to-date picture of our band’s music”, Mazolewski said.
